General introduction to ONIP

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is Ontario’s economic immigration program. ONIP welcomes foreign workers, international students and others with the right skills, experience, and education to apply for a nomination. The ONIP nominees can apply for permanent residence to the Government of Canada – IRCC.

Three ways for an ONIP nomination

1. Employer job offer category: for workers who already have a permanent job offer from an Ontario employer. There are three streams in this category:

1.1 Foreign Worker Stream 

1.2 International Student Stream 

1.3 In-Demand Skills Stream 

2. Human capital category: for workers who have valuable work experience, education, language skills, and a profile in Canada’s Express Entry system; or for graduate students. There are two sub-categories:

2.1 The international graduate streams 

2.2 Ontario’s Express Entry Stream
 

3. Business category: for entrepreneurs looking to start a new or buy an existing business in Ontario. It has only one stream:

3.1 Entrepreneur Stream 

Application process

Step 2: Select the stream you qualified.

Step 3: Collecting all relevant document for your application.

Step 4: Apply online and pay the fees

The employment job offer and human capital streams application fee is either $1,500 or $2,000

The business stream application fee is $3,500 per business partner or key staff applicant

Step 5: If you are nominated by the Ontario government, now you can apply for permanent residence through IRCC.
