What is the Ontario Entrepreneur Stream
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (ONIP) Entrepreneur Stream is for business entrepreneurs interested in starting a new business or buying an existing business in Ontario. The successful applicant will be given an invitation to apply for Permanent Residence.
What are the requirements of the Ontario Entrepreneur Stream?
- Work Experience: minimum 2 years business experience in the last 5 years
- Net Worth: minimum personal net worth of $800,000 CAD
- Personal Investment: minimum $600,000 CAD in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) or $200,000 if outside the GTA
- Capital Investment: must be for profit and for accruing personal interest, dividends or capital gains
- Active Involvement: applicant must be involved in the management of the business
- Job Creation: minimum must create 2 full-time permanent positions, if outside the GTA, 1 full-time permanent position
- Business plan: showing economic benefit to Ontario
- Performance Agreement: must settle in the province of Ontario
What are steps in the application process?

Step 2: Initial Consultation session with RCIC, sign Retainer Agreement with us.
Step 3: Start the OINP Entrepreneur Stream application, this process can be summed up as a two-stage process:
Stage 1
- Collecting all relevant document for your application.
- Register and Submit an online Expression of Interest (EOI) with the OINP.
- Invitation to Apply, apply online OINP Entrepreneur Stream application, and pay the fees.
- Attend a mandatory interview as part of the application assessment process.
- Sign a Performance Agreement (if the application is approved).
Stage 2
- Obtain a temporary work permit support letter from OINP to apply for a work permit with IRCC
- After You Arrive: Applicants will have 20 months to establish the business in Ontario.
- The Government of Ontario issue Nomination for Permanent Residence if the conditions of the signed Performance Agreement are met.
- Apply for Canadian permanent residence with IRCC within six (6) months of nomination. Three Years (36 months) of post-nomination monitoring following the issuance of permanent resident status.
OINP Entrepreneur Stream Points System
Total 200 points [human capital factors (up to 80 points), investment factors (up to 46 points), and business concept (up to 76 points)]. Must score minimum of 40 points in business concept section. Total score must be at least 115 points to qualify.
