What is the Agri-Food Pilot Program?
The new Agri-food Immigration Pilot debuted in March 2020 and is open until May 2023. The purpose of this program is to help employers fill ongoing labour shortages in the meat processing, mushroom and greenhouse production, and livestock-raising industries. This is a pathway for applicants who are experienced retail butchers, industrial butchers, food processing workers, harvest workers, farm workers, and farm supervisors and livestock workers to become Permanent Residents in Canada.
What are its requirements?
The general requirements for the Agri-Food Pilot Program are as follows:
- Work Experience: Minimum 12 months of full-time non-seasonal Canadian work experience in one of the eligible occupations below
- Language: Minimum CLB 4 in English/French from an approved language test
- Education: Canadian secondary (high school) diploma, or a foreign equivalent or higher Job offer: Must be full-time non-seasonal work at or above the prevailing wage (outside Quebec)
- Proof of Funds: Have enough money to support yourself and your family dependents, more information can be found here.
