What is New Brunswick Express Entry Stream?

The New Brunswick Express Entry Stream is designed for Foreign Nationals with the skills, education, and work experience to contribute to New Brunswick’s economy, who are ready to live and work in New Brunswick and meet the requirements for each stage of the Express Entry Stream.

The New Brunswick Express Entry stream is currently accepting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) via the INB portal from individual who meet all the criteria of this stream. On occasion, New Brunswick will invite candidates directly from the Express Entry pool in response to provincial labour-market needs.

What are the requirements of the NB EE Stream?

These are generally the requirements of this program.

  • The applicant has submitted a federal Express Entry Profile and has a valid Federal Express Profile Number and Job Seeker Validation Code.
  • The applicant is currently living in New Brunswick.
  • The applicant intends to reside in New Brunswick. Proof documents are required.
  • The applicant has enough money to support himself/herself and families.
  • The applicant is working for a New Brunswick employer or enrolled in a New Brunswick publicly-funded post-secondary institution. Specific requirements vary on the different situation.
    • IF the applicant is working for a New Brunswick employer:
      • A letter of employment from the employer must be provided.
      • The applicant has a valid Canadian Work Permit; a pdf copy must be provided.
      • The NOC Code for current employment is for a position that matches NOC Level 0, A, or B: NOC Code must be provided.
      • The applicant must have valid language test scores (IELTS, CELPIP, TEF Canada, TCF) with scores equivalent to CLB 7 in all four language competencies: test scores, and a pdf copy of these test results must be provided.
      • The applicant must have a valid Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) which attests to the minimum equivalent of a Canadian High School diploma: a pdf copy of the ECA must be provided.
      • NB PNP EMPLOYER JOB-OFFER NB

    • IF the applicant is enrolled in a New Brunswick publicly-funded post-secondary institution
      • The applicant must be physically living in New Brunswick.
      • Proof of enrolment must be provided.
      • The applicant has a valid Canadian Study Permit; a pdf copy must be provided.
      • The applicant must have at minimum one year of previous work experience in a position that matches NOC Level 0, A, or B: NOC Code and employment letters must be provided.
      • The applicant must have valid language test scores (IELTS, CELPIP, TEF Canada, or TCF) with scores equivalent to CLB 7 in all four language competencies: test scores, and a pdf copy of these test results must be provided.
      • The applicant must have either a valid Canadian diploma or an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA), which attests to the minimum equivalent of a Canadian High School diploma: a pdf copy of the diploma or the ECA must be provided.
    • If all the eligibility requirements have been met, the applicant will be assessed against a point system, a minimum of 67 of 100 points must be reached.

    Note: (1) The work experience must be within 10 years before submitting the application.

    (2) The work experience must be at NOC 0, A or B level and be in the same type of job as the job you want to use for the immigration application.

    (3) The work experience must be gained though paid job.

    5. Points for Employment in New Brunswick (maximum 10 points)

    Under certain situations, your job or job offer may earn you extra 10 points if conditions met.

    Situation 1:

    You currently work in New Brunswick on a work permit and you meet all of the following conditions:

    • IRCC issued your work permit based on a positive LMIA from Employment and Social Development Canada in an occupation listed under skill type 0 or skill level A or B of the NOC;
    • You are working for the New Brunswick employer named on your work permit; and
    • Your work permit is valid when you apply.

    Situation 2:

    You currently work in New Brunswick on a work permit and you meet all of the following conditions:

    • You currently work in New Brunswick in a job that is exempt from the LMIA requirement due to:
      • an international agreement (such as, the North American Free Trade Agreement);
      • significant benefit to Canadian interests; or
      • a federal-provincial agreement.

    You also must meet all the following conditions:

    • You are working for the New Brunswick employer named on your work permit.
    • Your work permit is valid when you apply.


    5. Adaptability (maximum 10 points)

    You, or your spouse/common-law partner, have a relative who is 18 years or older, living in New Brunswick as a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, for at least 12 months prior to submitting your application to PETL.

    This relative must be a parent; grandparent; child; grandchild; sibling (child of your parent); aunt or uncle (by blood or marriage); or niece or nephew (grandchild of your parent).
