What is ONIP PhD Graduate Stream?
The Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (ONIP) PhD Graduate Stream is targeted for international graduates with PhD degree from an Ontario university. After being nominated, the applicants can apply to the federal government to become Permanent Residence.
What are the requirements of the OINP PhD Graduate Stream?
The mandatoryrequirements include six categories:
Education: PhD degree from an eligible university in Ontario. At least two years of your PhD studies must have been completed while legally living and studying in Ontario. You are not bonded to a conditional bursary, grant or scholarship which requires you return to your home country after graduation.
Residency in Ontario: You must have legally lived in Ontario for at least one year in the past two years. One-year residency can be cumulative.
Settlement Funds: You must have enough money to support yourself and your dependent family members when you settle in Canada. The funds can be a combination of your funds in bank statements, annual earnings from current employment in Ontario, and/or a job offer in Ontario.
Intention to live in Ontario: You must intent to live and work in Ontario after you are granted permanent residence.
Legal Status in Canada(if applicable): If you are applying from within Canada, you must have legal status at the time you apply and should maintain that status until the time of nomination.
Application Period: You must submit your application within two years of completing your PhD degree.
The application fee
The application fee is $1500.
Note: the application fee is collected by the Government of Ontario.
