What is SINP-In-Sk-Health Professional stream?

The SINP- Saskatchewan Experience (In-SK) – Health Professional stream is for physicians, nurses, and other health professionals who have been working in Saskatchewan for at least six months on a valid work permit. After being nominated, the applicants can apply to the federal government to become Permanent Residence.

What are the requirements of the Health Professional stream?

There are different criteria for the three qualified occupations.

Criteria for Physicians:

  • You must have a valid work permit.
  • You must have practiced as a physician in Saskatchewan for at least six months.
  • You must have a permanent, full-time job offer that is:
    • issued by a provincial health authority or the health education institution where you are currently working.
    • verified with documents that describe your permanent arrangement to practice medicine in Saskatchewan. These could be:
      • A business plan or contract.
      • A partnership agreement.
      • Other documents describing your practice.
  • You must have a valid SINP Job Approval Letter.
  • The SINP will also obtain a letter of support from the College of Physicians and Surgeons for Saskatchewan (CoSS). The letter must state your type of licence, expiry date, and CoSS’ support for you to become a permanent resident in Saskatchewan.
  • You may also be asked for a letter from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada stating that you are licensed in a particular specialty.

Criteria for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Psychiatric Nurses or Registered Nurses (RN):

  • You must have a valid work permit.
  • You must have practiced as a nurse in Saskatchewan for at least six months.
  • You must have a permanent, full-time job offer from:
    • the Saskatchewan Health Authority
    • the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency
    • Another publicly funded health employer
  • You must have a valid SINP Job Approval Letter.
  • The SINP will confirm with the appropriate licensing body that you have an unrestricted licence to practice in Saskatchewan.

Criteria for Other Health Professions:

  • You must be currently working in a health job supported by the appropriate regional health authority, licensing body, or employer.
  • Your occupation is in NOC O, A, B, or C.
  • You must have at least one year of post-secondary school or job training.
  • You must have a valid work permit.
  • You must practice as a nurse in Saskatchewan for at least six months.
  • You must have a permanent, full-time job offer from
    • the Saskatchewan Health Authority
    • the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency
    • Another publicly funded health employer
  • You must have a valid SINP Job Approval Letter.
  • You must have a minimum language score of CLB 4 if your job offer is in a NOC C occupation.
  • Have proof of eligibility for Saskatchewan licensure if your occupation is regulated in Saskatchewan and requires certification or licensure.
  • The SINP will also obtain:
    • A letter of support from the appropriate licensing body.
    • A letter of support from your employer that states your job was posted as per the relevant collective agreement and remains vacant.
