What is the International Experience Canada Program?

The International Experience Canada (IEC) has three streams, Working Holiday, Young Professionals, and International Co-op (Internship) which provides an opportunity for young people from participating countries to travel and work to Canada. Each participating country may offer one or two of the programs and others allow candidates to participate twice, but in different pools.

How does the International Experience Canada Program work?

Applicants must first create an IEC profile which if eligible will be automatically entered into the IEC pool of candidates. From there IEC conducts a random draw which will be issued an Invitation to Apply and are given 10 days to accept and 20 days after accepting to apply for a Work Permit. By declining an invitation, the candidate will be put back into the pool, there will be no adverse effects for future invitations. The candidates will remain in the pool until the end of the season. The participating countries can be found here.
